My Initial Focus Group...

When we were needing to think about designing and planning our own digipak's for our music videos, we firstly needed to understand what our audience would want to see on a digipak. This was where we had the task to conduct a focus group to gather further ideas and understand what our targeted audience would want to see.
Within this session I spoke about digipaks and my ideas to them and then I wanted to find out what they would like so I constructed a Questionnaire to gather my answers from them, this also did link in with the PowerPoint I made to help my group out. I did this with my form group : PO9...

Q1.) How professional was my presentation?
Detailed and Focused - depiste students being late :) Students and Staff visiting. Polite and thoughtful presenter. Mostly from memory.
Q2.) How was the pace of my presentation?
Plently of time to complete. For Questionnaire and to ask questions.

Clear and focused, open and closed :)

Q1.) Would you use your tutor group again why?
It was great to of been able to talk to my form group through this and interact with them, however I would like to use my tutor group again as they are my targeted audience, however I felt like some didn’t take it seriously when looking over at my questionnaire results, so I feel like I would like to use some students from my tutor group however gain some more people that take my findings seriously.
Q2.) Would you use a similar resource range again? Why?
I would use similar resources again because I believe the PowerPoint helps to establish further education for those who didn’t know what a Digipak was and the questionnaires I felt were the best way of gathering results as it makes them more specific.
Q3.) How will you do this differently when you are presenting your own digipak/magazine poster sketches and ideas in September/October?
When I do a focus group next time, to make it differently I would make sure that I have some ideas for my actual digipak plans, as last time I didn’t discuss this has I haven’t had any proper design ideas, so next time I would need to ensure that I have some designs to work with so that I can gain any improvements and opinions within them. The colour is also something I need to find out more about to, looking at what colours my target audience would like to see on a digipak, so that I can incorporate them into my own designs.
Q4.) How will your results impact on your own digipak/magazine poster sketches and research?
When it comes to designing my own digipak/magazine poster the impact in which this would then create would be that I would be able to ensure that I am always thinking about what my target audience are wanting, what they are wanting to see as with the ideas that I gain from them it then helps me understand my audience more and that then when it comes to research I am then looking onto the guidelines in which I would be needing for my audience, so this would then create a positive impact.
Q5.) How was the experience, overall?
For me the experience of the focus group went very well for me I gained some progress into what ideas I would needing to be expanding on. When doing the presentation I was also happy that I educated everyone on what a digipak was as many of them were very unsure of what one was so that was a positive impact. The idea of having a focus group if very good because then you gain ideas from the audience you would be aiming at and this would then give you the starting point for your planning and making those developments that are needed. Overall, my experience was great and having this makes the beginning of my planning steps easier for me and being able to start the improvements and developments, I think it is great way to gain opinions.
