What is a Digipak?
A digipak is a patented style of CD, DVD or BD packaging, and is a registered trademark of AGI-Shorewood, an Atlas Holdings LLC company. They typically consist of gatefold (book-style) designs, including at least one or more plastic trays.
They were first alternatives of jewel cases, which these were made in 1982 and became even more popular within the early 2000s.
They often are CD singles or special edition albums, which come with lyric books
However, on these the packaging of these are weaker then the orginal model, they are susceptible to wear and tear, however in this generation they are the now the better fashion of them.
Manufacturers have sought to reduce environmental impact and improve functionality by introducing recycled components into its trays; one has announced a 100% post-consumer PET tray made from recycled bottles
